Jennifer DeRubeis - Principal

Jennifer DeRubeis has served as principal of Northeast Elementary School since July 2024. Prior to this role, she was principal of Stark Elementary from 2018 to 2024. A graduate of Stamford Public Schools, Mrs. DeRubeis brings 26 years of experience as a teacher and administrator in the district. She began her career at Northeast Elementary, where she taught for 13 years across kindergarten, 2nd grade, and 4th grade. She later became the school’s K–5 Literacy Coach. Mrs. DeRubeis went on to serve as the K–5 SRBI Support Teacher at Newfield Elementary. In 2015, she was named Stamford Public Schools’ Curriculum Associate for Early Childhood Education, and in 2017, she became Director of Early Childhood Education. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Sacred Heart University, as well as a Master’s degree in Elementary Education and a certificate in Educational Leadership from the University of Bridgeport. She is certified in K–6 Elementary Education (CT 013) and Intermediate Administration or Supervision (CT 092). Mrs. DeRubeis has also represented Stamford Public Schools on several committees, including the School Readiness Council, the Cooperative Educational Services (CES) Early Childhood Council, and the Stamford Early Childhood Collaborative (SECC) Leadership Committee.

Angela Plateroti - Assistant Principal

Angela Plateroti brings more than 20 years of experience as a teacher and teacher leader with Stamford Public Schools. She began her career at Westover Magnet Elementary School, where she taught grades K–4 from 2004 to 2021. She then moved to the district’s central office as a Teacher on Special Assignment for K–5 STEM during the 2021–2022 school year. From 2022 to 2024, she served as the Teacher Leader for Student Support at Julia A. Stark Elementary School. For the 2024–2025 school year, Mrs. Plateroti was named the Multi-Tiered System of Support Specialist at Northeast Elementary School and also served as interim assistant principal. She has additionally served as a head teacher in the Stamford Public Schools Summer School Program each year since 2019. A graduate of Westhill High School, Mrs. Plateroti earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Education from Sacred Heart University, as well as a sixth-year certificate in Educational Leadership from the University of Bridgeport. She holds certifications in K–6 Elementary Education (CT 013) and Intermediate Administration or Supervision (CT 092).


 

Brie O’Bryan - Assistant Principal for Special Education

Brie O’Bryan is a special education teacher leader with more than a decade of experience in Stamford Public Schools. She most recently served as a K–2 special education resource teacher at Northeast Elementary School and Julia A. Stark Elementary School. She began her career with the district in 2013 at Apples PreK, where she taught an inclusion class for students ages 3–5 with disabilities. In addition to her classroom roles, Mrs. O’Bryan was the lead teacher for the Stamford Public Education Foundation’s Summer Start Program from 2021 to 2024. She also served as the Special Education Head Teacher for the Stamford Public Schools Extended School Year (ESY) program from 2014 to 2020. Mrs. O’Bryan earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Connecticut, a Master of Science in Childhood Education from Mercy College, and a sixth-year certificate in Educational Leadership from Central Connecticut State University. She holds certifications in PreK–Grade 12 Comprehensive Special Education (CT 165), K–6 Elementary Education (CT 013), Integrated Early Childhood/Elementary Education (N–3) and Special Education (N–K) (CT 113), and K–12 Intermediate Administration or Supervision (CT 092).
