Toys for Tots & Vineyard Vines Spreads Love at Northeast
Our social worker Lesley Ulloa collaborated with Toys for Tots and Vineyard Vines to provide gifts to two Northeast students who lost their parents this year. Both students joined Ms. Ulloa for a day of surprises just before the holidays and received stuffed animals, pajamas, enjoyed a fire truck ride, and met Santa. “For the families it means so much to receive an extra gift. It’s hard to be without their mother, be without their father, so just getting a little extra love on Christmas is meaningful for them,” says Lesley Ulloa, a social worker at Northeast Elementary School.

Northeast Lights up with Kindness!
Northeast participated in The Stamford Kindness Project by “Lighting” Northeast up with acts of kindness. During our holiday themed spirit week, students and staff dressed in bright colors and performed random acts of kindness such as sharing toys, helping a friend, holding the door, giving a compliment, and writing notes to teachers and other students to show kindness. Northeast staff displayed the acts on brightly colored lights around the school to promote compassion and create a positive environment.
Fifth Grade Native American Presentations
Students in Mr. Fox, Mrs. Florio, Mrs. Manning, and Mrs. Van Name’s classes showcased their learning about Native American regions in a creative and interactive way. After studying the geography, culture, and resources of different Native American regions, each group of students became experts on their assigned area. They then created presentations using PowerPoint, Google Slides, and websites to highlight key facts and share their findings. As part of the presentation, students engaged their classmates and families by providing fun quizzes and interesting facts. This integrated literacy project allowed students to demonstrate their knowledge and share their learning in an exciting and collaborative format.
Physical Education Winter Wonderland
The Northeast physical education teachers designed a series of winter-themed fitness activities that had students of all grades moving and having fun. Activities included curling, “climbing” to the North Pole, penguin bowling, and sled pulling, among other winter sports. To make the experience even more special, fifth grade students teamed up with kindergarten classes to coach and guide their younger peers through the activities. With lots of energy and excitement, it was SNOW much fun for everyone involved!

Grade 1 Thanksgiving Performance
Students in first grade and our ASD class led by Music Teachers Mr. Barbour and Mr. Stec showcased their musical talent through song, instrumental accompaniment, and dance movements to celebrate Thanksgiving. Students spelled out “Thanksgiving Dinner,” with the many different foods we eat on Thanksgiving. Students also shared what they are thankful for with the support of the first grade teachers Mrs. Brown, Mrs. Hunt, Ms. Kanel, Mrs. Karayiannis, and Ms. Weidenbacher. The story of Bear Says Thanks culminated the thankful theme for this first grade performance.
