Attendance Policy

If you need to excuse an absence, call the main office at (203) 977-4469. Stamford Public School has implemented an automated attendance call to let you know when a student has been marked absent.
The attendance rate is of vital importance to our school. When a student is absent more than 10% of the school year, they are considered chronically absent by the state of CT. Other than a long-term medical leave, you are chronically absent regardless of the type of absence (excused or unexcused). For example, if a student goes on a trip to visit family, those absences contribute towards the 10%.
Teacher Procedures:
Attendance is taken by 8:15am.
Absence Procedures:
All student absences must be reported to the main office by phone the day of the absence or a note the day the student returns from the absence. This note should include the student’s name, the date(s) of the absence, the reason for the absence, and the parent signature. Absences are coded as Excused or Unexcused
Stamford Public Schools offers more information on the attendance policies.
